Bea off to se-a Kea?
Keep a good hold of valuable small items, dem punk parrots are pesky indeed.
I think we might look for kiwis as well but as that might require a three hour hike after dark, I will probably pass. Thanks for the tip. If a kea got close enough to me to steal something, I would be thrilled!
Kea’s are very inquisitive and smart with a strong beak. I’m sure you’ll see them up close. Extremely interesting bird, off the top of my head imagine a 2YO that get’s into anything LOL.
While you’re there see if you can pick up a bit of Maori history. To compare to your neck of the woods, the fighting abiltiy and discipline of chief Joseph. Fought the British to a standstill a few times. Weren’t averse to fortifying a position (any name ending in “Pa” is a fortified place)AND sticking it out. The wikipedia article “The New Zealand Wars” is not a bad nutshell review.
It’s a grand place and hope you have a great time.
Wow! New Zealand! How exciting. I have only been there once, but it is a beautiful country and I so want to go back. Have heaps of fun down under.
My husband and I visited the North Island about 20 years ago and loved it and the people. This time I will get to see the South Island as well. I’m looking forward to the scenery almost as much as the birds.
Have a wonderful trip!
Have a very happy Thanksgiving!
