Taking Wing

I’m off to New Zealand tomorrow to look at some birds!  Will be back on December 16 to pick up 1954 once more.

While there I hope to see these guys:

Kea

I’m also hoping to see something like this:

Shorebirds at Miranda, New Zealand

Kea’s are very inquisitive and smart with a strong beak. I’m sure you’ll see them up close. Extremely interesting bird, off the top of my head imagine a 2YO that get’s into anything LOL.
While you’re there see if you can pick up a bit of Maori history. To compare to your neck of the woods, the fighting abiltiy and discipline of chief Joseph. Fought the British to a standstill a few times. Weren’t averse to fortifying a position (any name ending in “Pa” is a fortified place)AND sticking it out. The wikipedia article “The New Zealand Wars” is not a bad nutshell review.
It’s a grand place and hope you have a great time.

Wow! New Zealand! How exciting. I have only been there once, but it is a beautiful country and I so want to go back. Have heaps of fun down under.
