I don’t have as good a reason as the above but I’m smiling today because people can get on my blog and my comments are now working! I have missed you a lot. Hope to hear from you again.
No movie today.
To the velvet voice of Nat King Cole and clips of the Little Tramp.

Love “City Lights,” “Smile,” the talented Mr. Chaplin, and the dreamy voice of Nat King Cole. Such good news!
Thanks, friend!
We have been waiting for this and hopefully the link to you on my blog roll will work now.
Now my recent comments widget has crapped out, probably because I deleted a commercial comment…
Hope life is getting a bit easier in California. We may actually be getting some sort of summer vacation after all
A little bit of escapism then.
Themed on the occasional “to take a break from the serious watching for my blog” series.

Modern, 2018, German.
While not a masterpiece it does stick pretty much to the truth (for the real story Google “East German balloon escape Wikipedia” AFTER watching – do this as (a) it provides an epilogue that the movie misses (b) the real story is just as amazing, if not more so) and is tense, well acted and well told. Sets are excellent invoking a real period feel to me.
IMDB 7.5 which I think is pretty accurate for once.
That does sound interesting. I think there was a Disney film about the same incident that I saw at one time. This one I think:https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082810/reference
Vwey impressive ,emory….I’d forgotten that people mentioned that already LOL. General consensus is – that was Disneyfied and this is better.
A little bit (more) of escapism then.
This is one for the casual watch tho some think it is far greater than that

rating 7.6
A one woman animated creation retelling an Indian traditional tale which mirrors the author’s experiences. Tho the modern arc is pretty flat this really comes alive when it switches to the Indian (re)telling.
Memerising, highly enjoyable and unusual but in no way style over substance Indian arc animation is a delight…and you’ll love the Annette Hanshaw soundtrack (30’s blues).
Not mainstream so thought I’d mention it for those “no blog today” hours.
I’ve actually been interested in seeing this one for awhile! I’ll have to give it a try.
