1965 Recap and 16 Favorites List

I have now watched 106 films that were released in 1965.  A complete list can be found here.   it was a fairly strong year and I had 16 films for my favorites list.   They could have been ordered in any number of ways as they were all ranked at 9/10 (may be the first year with no 10/10s).  I’ve  decided simply to list all the films alphabetically.

I did not manage to watch Vinyl, The Saragossa Manuscript, or The Golden Thread from the 1001 Movies List.

Did you check to see if Vinyl is on YouTube? That’s where I saw it, but it’s been a few years. I love it! But that’s probably because I’m kind of fascinated by Edie Sedgwick. Most of the 1001 List people I know hate it!

Another “I’m not completely sure but this certainly has an impact” Japanese film.

One of the strongest anti-war/societal rules films without battlefield scenes I can recall watching with a top performance by Ayako Wakao who follows a conventional poor peasant’s path at the start but then sees her way in life and then….best watched without further knowledge of the plot IMO (and be very surprised – I was!). note The IMDB plot only covers the start, there is much much more.
